Happy Birthday, Bruno!

It's hard to believe that my first born is turning 13.  He celebrated with a  birthday party today, even though his actually birthday is still 2 days away.  Bruno is a huge fan of The Walking Dead.  Check out the cake I made for him!
Keeping with the zombie theme....he also received a fabulous Walking Dead T-shirt featuring Michonne and a zombie survival poster!  Good day.  Now it's time to relax for a bit before watching The Walking Dead tonight :)

Weight Loss Challenge Finale

I made these tonight for the last night of The Wareham Weight Loss Challenge.  During this 10 week program I have lost over 15 lbs thanks to Herbalife!  Tonight I find out if I'm the biggest loser ;)  Anyway, decided to make some cheesecake stuffed strawberries as a treat for everyone.  Can't wait to try one myself!

Indoor lettuce

Did you know you can grow lettuce in your house?  I didn't, until I saw it on Facebook.  When you buy bunches of Romaine, you normally chop the bottom off  and throw it away (or in our case feed it to our bunnies, Love Buns and Butterscotch).  Don't!!!!!.  All you have to do is place it into some water and it will quickly start to regrow.  Cool huh?!

Creative guy!!!

What can I say, I've got some very creative kids.  They are always coming up with ideas, projects and activities that just "wow" me.  Sometimes, all they need is something so simple.  They can see the potential in anything.  For example, what would you make out of a pizza box and duct tape?  Me, I'd make it into a pile of garbage, lol!  But not my son.  Look at what he made!!!!

Army helmet....pretty darn creative ;)

Apple Bread

Daphne and I were so excited to make this recipe that a friend (thanks Karen) posted on Facebook.  Well, to be honest I'm always looking for shortcuts in the kitchen.  I thought, why use bread dough?  I bet this would be delicious in a pie crust.  So, I went to the store and purchased roll out pie dough.  We followed all the steps.  First we set the foundation.

Then we sampled (Ok that wasn't in the directions)

Then we assembled it...

Finally we baked it...and what a mess.  It completely fell apart, looked horrible and made us sad...until we tried it!  Delicious.  Definitely needs to be made with bread dough, to hold it all together :)

Beethoven

Yup, Daphne rocks!  Both Bruno and Daphne joined the Middle School Band.  They are very happy to be able to partake while still being homeschooled :)
